What BMW Angel Eyes Are — and What These Bulbs Replace
BMW’s signature angel eyes (also called halo rings or corona rings) are the illuminated circles that surround the headlight projectors, serving as parking lights and daytime running lights. The rings themselves are light guides built into the headlight — what makes them glow is a small halo bulb mounted in the back of the housing. From the factory that bulb is a halogen unit: warm-tinted, dim by modern standards, and the first thing to fade as the car ages.
A replacement LED angel eye bulb swaps directly into the factory halo bulb’s socket — no cutting, no splicing, no opening the headlight. Replacement Bulbs — Not Headlights, Not Halo Rings

Three Bulb Families — and Why They Don’t Interchange
All 19 fitments look similar in photos, but the catalog spans three electrically different halo bulb families, and they are not interchangeable. Each listing states its family’s interchange part numbers — the cross-reference numbers you can match against the bulb already in your car:
- Standard type – interchange numbers 63126904048, 63126916097, 63126929309. Used by the earlier chassis in the family: E39 and E60/E61 (Pre-LCI) 5 Series, E63/E64 (Pre-LCI) 6 Series, E65/E66 7 Series, E87 (Pre-LCI) 1 Series, E53 X5 and E83 X3.
- E90-type – interchange number 63117161444. One fitment only: the 2006–2008 E90/E91 3 Series sedan and wagon.
- H8 type – interchange number 63217160782 (H8 base). The later chassis: LCI 5 and 6 Series, E70 X5, E71 X6, LCI 1 Series hatchbacks, E82/E88 coupes and convertibles, LCI E90/E91 sedans and wagons, Pre-LCI E92/E93 coupes and convertibles, F01/F02 7 Series, E84 X1 and E89 Z4.
Two rules follow. First, choose by chassis and year range — not by what the bulb looks like. Second, if your model had a facelift (LCI) inside its production run, the Pre-LCI and LCI headlights often take different bulbs — the 5 Series, 6 Series, 1 Series and 3 Series all switch families mid-generation, which is why the finder below lists them as separate year ranges.
